GENERAL MEDICAL COUNCIL

Communicating a major transformational change programme for the General Medical Council.

The General Medical Council needed to streamline its operations and foster culture change to enable a radical reform programme and embed customer service across its activities.

I worked closely with the chief operating officer and leadership team to develop the case for change and design a communications programme to engage staff at all levels with the strategic goals, get their input and ideas, and minimise negative responses to change.

This included a series of workshops and a new internal ‘cascade’ process to enable heads of section to own the decision-making and communications around the project.

The transformation programme successfully delivered multi-million pound efficiency savings and innovations in a range of functions, whilst maintaining upper quartile staff engagement scores.
